Therefore, the question is asked in man’s quest for religious fulfillment. …”What is the true gospel?”
The answer to this question is heightened and complicated by other factors. Non-Christian religions are experiencing an unprecedented upsurge as they tighten the grip on the minds and hearts of people. Defective Christianity has become involved in false revivalism, bringing the apocalyptic fulfillment into sharper focus. Strife and tension strike countless areas. The nations are churning in unrest and turmoil” “Dimensions in Salvation” W.R. .Beach. pg 9. Recently the whole world witnessed—live—the wanton destruction and death that griped the people of the greatest city in modern times—New York.
Christians and Non-Christians alike must seek a satisfactory solution to the problems of life on our planet. While it is quite evident that all our problems cannot be solved in the laboratory, we know for a fact that man, by nature, is a ‘religious being.’ Deep inside the mind and embedded within the crevices of his every fabric is the natural yearning to worship a Supreme Being. Therefore, in an effort to please this Supreme Being mankind MUST worship in a true and proper way.This is therefore so important, especially when that Supreme Being has commanded and mandated, through divine inspiration, how He is to be worshiped. Hence the question, “WHAT IS THE TRUE GOSPEL?”
“Our conclusion must be based first on reason, then on faith, hope and love. We must use faith accurately and aggressively. A faith not grounded in reason is a weak faith, vulnerable to devasting attacks and to subversion. A religious faith without reason actually breeds defective character and evil conduct.” “Dimension in Salvation” W. R. Beach pg. 10. Therefore, BY FAITH, what is the true gospel?
The Bible says “If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.” John 7:17. “ It is proper to repeat again and again the eternal truth that if any man will search the word of God for light, with a heart fully submitted to do the will of God as it is revealed to him, that man will receive light.” Bible Answers, RHPA, PG. 7.
Further to this, the Bible says “ Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” John 5:39.
The Bible says “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” Matthew 24:14.
It goes on further to say “ Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Matthew 28: 19,20.
Still the same Bible says “ The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel”. Mark 1:15.
However, throughout the ages, mankind though familiar with the letter of the Scriptures, failed to understand them in its true meaning. To them Jesus said, “Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.” Matthew 22:29. Moreover the Bible says “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” Isaiah 8:20.
Finally Jesus Christ made this pronouncement about the gospel “But he said, Yea, rather, blessed art they that hear the word of God, and keep it.” Luke 11:28.
What is the true gospel? The answer…. The Gospel teachings of the Bible and all its divine commandments that are written therein.
THE BIBLE
This book contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe in it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword, the Christian’s charter. Here paradise is restored, heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed. Christ is its grand object; our good its design; and the glory of God , its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be opened in the judgment, and be remembered forever.. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents. Author Unknown
